Who are Guides?
Guides is a relaxed, welcoming space where you can have fun, learn and be yourself with good friends from 10 to 14 years old.
A place where you can explore the things you love and do stuff you’ve never done before. Where else can you think up a new sport, make a new perfume, cook over a campfire, design an advertising campaign, have a mocktail party, raise money for a charity you believe in? At Guides, you can do all of this and loads more.

Activities
Guides follow our programme. In unit meetings, you’ll do fun activities, play games and earn skills builder badges, all while being supported by our trained volunteers.
You could get skills builder badges in themes such as camping, communication and first aid. And if you want to take guiding home, there’s lots of interest badges to do in between unit meetings, like the craftivism badge, fixing badge and whittling badge.
Discover all the badges Guides can earn.
Many units split girls into small groups called patrols for some activities and, as you get older, you’ll have a chance to become a patrol leader. You could also try out the Guide camp permit, become a Rainbow or Brownie helper with a local unit and inspire our youngest sections, or become a member of Amplify, who help staff and senior volunteers make decisions about the future of Girlguiding.
As well as going to events planned locally with your unit, you could also go to our jam-packed adventure weekend, Fearless Fun, our extreme winter camp, Sparkle and Ice, and our very own festival, Wellies and Wristbands, and make friends from around the UK.
Promise
All Girlguiding members are invited to make the same promise.
“I promise that I will do my best, to be true to myself and develop my beliefs, to serve the King and my community, to help other people and to keep the (Brownie) Guide law.”
We do have a shorter version for our youngest group, Rainbows.
“I promise that I will do my best to think about my beliefs and to be kind and helpful.”
Uniform
We encourage members to wear a uniform to show they’re part of the Girlguiding family – and you can wear a Blue Guide top or dress.
Where does that Badge go?
Badges can be attached to her uniform – the promise badge, which she’ll get after making her Guide promise, should be on the left-hand side and all other badges can be attached where she chooses.
How you can Support Us?
We know everyone has a skill, hobby or interest we can use at Scouts and anytime you can offer to help out is awesome. You can volunteer as little or as much as you like, we’re super flexible.
Interested?
Speak to one of the leaders about the different tasks we need support with at each meeting. If you could help us out once or twice a term, it’ll make a big difference.
